Admissions

Today is a good day apply yourself!

The hardest step to take is the first one. Make the move to become a part of a community of faculty and students that will help you find your way, while also receiving a top-tier faith-based education.

Christian Experience

A definite born-again experience is essential for admission to JSBC. Preference is given to student applicants who have established a history of active participation in their local churches. The applicant’s commitment must include a life of personal holiness, refraining from any sinful practices.

Students who have not received the baptism in the Holy Spirit will be encouraged to seek and receive the experience. It is expected that all applicants should be sympathetic toward the doctrinal statement contained in this catalog.

Academic Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school is required for admission to JSBC. Official transcripts must accompany the student’s application. Non-high school graduates who have satisfactory GED scores will be considered.

Non-Traditional Students

Applicants who are 25 years of age or older and have not graduated from a high school or who do not hold a GED may be considered for admission as a non-traditional student. An applicant may be permitted as a non-traditional student provided s/he gives evidence of ability to pursue the courses elected. These applicants will be considered for admission on an individual basis by the Admissions Committee.

Testing Requirements

JSBC does not require applicants to take the ACT or SAT. This requirement may change in the future, and we will update this information accordingly.

Transfer Student Requirements

Students will be accepted from accredited colleges on the basis of transcripts and satisfactory records. Credit may be granted for courses that match JSBC courses in the student’s degree program, providing a grade of C or better has been earned by the student in those transfer courses.

Transcripts will be evaluated after the student has been accepted to JSBC.

Student Housing Requirement

Full-time freshman students under the age of 25, who are not already residents of Baton Rouge, must reside in the College dormitory for their freshman year.

Age and Health Requirements

Applicants must be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrollment. There is no other upper age limit. Applicants must be in good general health and capable of meeting the demands of a College schedule.
