Church Music Minor Course Details
The purpose of the church music minor is to educate and equip Sprit-anointed students for biblically-based music and music-related ministries.
Upon completing this minor, the student should be able to:
Articulate a biblical philosophy of music ministry;
Identify and demonstrate characteristics which qualify him as a competent church music minister;
Demonstrate ability in performance in one major area and one minor area by successfully completing the following:
Applied instruction and performance;
Piano proficiency;
Music theory proficiency;
Chart reading and transcription in the Nashville Number System; and
Recall, interpret and apply knowledge of the history of Western music in general and sacred music in particular.

Media And Communications Minor* Course Details

The purpose of the media & communications minor is to cultivate critical thinking skills and thoughtful expression through the evaluation and creation of media. The program will provide students with a well-rounded experience while fostering creative exploration in areas of audio production, television production, journalism, and public relations.
Upon completing this minor, the student should be able to:
Understand how mass media are produced, consumed and published within today’s society;
Have a foundation in media ethics and the First Amendment that will reinforce responsibilities as media professionals;
Research, gather, write and critically evaluate information from various sources in order to conceptualize, develop, plan, and execute a media project through the all phases of production;
Utilize fundamentals in mass media writing styles that conform to professional standards in order to produce effective oral, written, and visual communication to different types of audiences; and
Explain the relationship between Christianity and the progression of mass media (newspaper, magazine, radio, television, film & Internet) and their convergence.
